The Guineas are here!!!

My parents picked up two Guineas today.  We couldn't put them with the chicks because they were trying to peck at them so they are by themselves right now until they get big enough to be with the chicks.  I put my chick Betty with the Guineas and she freaked out because she was away from the other chicks....and she almost stepped on one of the Guineas head because she wasn't looking where she was going.   Names to be determined.  :)

I just figured out that one of the Buff Orpingtons (the golden colored ones) is a rooster!

Loggerhead Turtles

This morning when I was slowly waking up I heard about a turtle nest that had been laid on the beach almost right outside the little cottage we were staying at.  It was so fun to see the egg, markings, and nest that the Loggerhead had laid overnight.
Loggerheads are protected by the Federal government

The marked site.  You are not allowed to disturb it.

Turtle tracks!  That should be a new ice cream flavor....

Tracks coming up from the beach!

Turtle egg.  The 'Turtle Patrol' got it out to show us when they came by to mark and check the site this morning.

Whole dug to get egg out.

The eggs are about the size of a Ping Pong ball and there are over 100 eggs per nest!

A Story about Rocks

There once was a beautiful field.
But the field had alot of rocks.  :(

So one day some people set out to go and rid that field of rocks so that it could be cut down so the new growth could come through.

And they took with them their trusty wagon.

And they looked all around to pick up rocks.

But some of the workers got distracted with 'other things'....

And instead of working on picking up the rocks they fooled around.....

And played.
But in the end most of the big rocks got picked up.

So the workers set out to go home and relax.

The End!

Waiting for Green...

There is alot going on in the Spring time.  We are just waiting for everything that has been worked on to start producing.  Green plants, baby bunnies, chickens in their coop, etc.

My mom's 'Starbuck's' garden.  Isn't it pretty.

The plants are coming up....I am not sure that you can see in the picture though.

My Gorgeous mom watering her garden.

The new CHICKEN COOP!!!!  I love the paint job mom!  And my dad did an excellent job with building it!

Little Sophie.

Sweet Pea is not happy about today!

I need a new picture of him but here is the 'stud' that Sweet Pea was bred to today.  Fernando did a good job too....atleast I think.

Goldie's 1st Birthday!

Yesterday Goldie (my brother's palomino Morgan) turned 1.  Of course we made a scrumptious oat, apple, molasses, and carrot cake.   Feeling jealous yet?  That is not quite what my taste buds like but it is a big hit with the horses....and with the dogs (our dogs haven't quite realized that they aren't horses yet.  They eat hay, 'road apples, and horse treats!).   Here are some wonderful birthday pictures.
All the girls waiting for 'cake'.

Cleaning up the 'scraps' of cake that fell.

"That was good!"  Misty licking her lips.

Jewel is a doll when my grandpa comes out to see her....but she is a whole different creature when he leaves.

"Yum, Cake"

"Are you watching me?"

"Got to lick it clean"
